Hoovers Hatchery

Yes! Good hatchery. My sister and I ordered 50 Chicks from them last february. All arrived healthy and happy. They are very nice on the phone and helpful. I will buy from them again.

I'm so happy to hear that someone is happy with their order. I just ordered 25 assorted pullets from them this week that will be here at the beginning of March.

I have had great luck with Hoover's Hatchery. Been ordering from them (or as mentioned, they supply the local Running stores) for 6 years now.

They are close to me so I think that has helped with my 100% live shipped bird record.

We ordered 21 chicks from Hoover's. We received 23 on Feb. 24th. They were all alive on shipment but one of our 3 ameraucana's didn't make it. Not sure why, We also have one Buff Orpington that is still sluggish after a week but seems she may come around. The rest seem to be very healthy and full of energy. It looks as if they gave us 2 roosters out of the 18 pullets we ordered. Not to bad. I don't know if we would reccomend hoover's as this is the first time we have ordered through the mail anywhere..

I have only ordered chicks once before, and that was from Estes Hatchery last spring. Also a great experience for anyone looking at different hatcheries. I ordered from them again this year for a later shipment and Hoovers. My shipment was supposed to go out yesterday, but the order is still posted as processing today, so I hope they don't get shipped over the weekend or they just haven't updated the shipment. I e-mailed today to double check, but hadn't heard back yet as of this afternoon. I will call tomorrow if I haven't received an e-mail.

Our chicks came first thing this morning about 20 minutes after the PO called to see if we wanted to pick them up. They said they would be the first package delivered, so we didn't make the trip. All arrived alive, but we have lost three over the course of the day. All three were very slow and tired this morning. The rest are having a blast and running around in the brooder tonight. So really we just lost the extras. I'm not disappointed at all though for having to travel in cold weather. We do have a runt though. I thought maybe the mistakenly put a bantam in there, but I think it's just a half-size black sex link.
