incubating african eggs - detached air cell (day 30 - they are hatching!!)

Have fun running to the store, you will find the geese will enjoy most greens that the ducklings enjoy. Everyone here enjoys watermelon too on hot days as well as peas frozen and tossed in their pools. Half of our geese will eat alphalpha cubes that were soaked in water too.

Pete, to be honest, I am in a bit of shock at the success!! I'll be sure to give an update later on ebay egg #2 (which has made a nice enlarged hole now)... as well as the last two eggs!!!

Celtic... of course... PEAS!! Time for my 3 week old duckies to get peas too!! Be back later with pics of them all fluffed up in brooder!!

I wish! Instead, I went to home depot to get supplies for a new indoor brooder pen for the goslings and the grocery store for much needed supplies, including greens for the babies.

Ebay #2 has commenced zipping.

Pete, if you are around.... ebay #2 is almost 50% zipped. As soon as it hatches, I am going to candle the remaining eggs again. IF they are alive, I'm hoping to be able to do something to help them hatch. Would love to get your advice on it!!

Ebay #2 has hatched!! I am so tired at this point my eyes cannot see straight, but both of the remaining eggs look alive... with the BYC egg looking close to internal pipping. So I drew an outline of the air cell, noting the shadow level in back of aircell for each one. I am FINALLY going to take a much needed nap and will check those outlines in an hour or two.

Here's my ebay goosie:

The last gosling has been moved to brooder and is doing well. I checked the remaining eggs. BYC egg really looks to be ok, with pulsing shadows moving up into air cell in back. By the morning, I should know for sure if it will internally pip. I'm still not sure about the ebay egg. Both hubby and I see movement in the mass, which is not quite against back of air cell. We both see red veins. So we are still hopeful about it.

Stay tuned for the morning update. :D
