what killed our flock?

If nothing was taken or eaten, I would say it was dogs.

Any wild predator might have killed all the birds, but would certainly have eaten or taken at least one bird to eat.

Yes BJ Taylor they can get through just about anything they set their minds to short of two by fours!! I'm with darin367, it's a war. You really do have to think like them to beat them at their game!!

We came home tonight to 24 of our 29 chickens dead - about 3-1/2 months old all of them. It was absolutely HEARTBREAKING! They were all outside the coop, some spread around, but most right outside the coop. Feathers spread around, but none showed signs of tears, bites, wounds, missing pieces, or blood. The 5 that survived were the strongest of the group, and could fly up top the coop if needed. Poor birds, I feel so bad they were mangled this way and couldn't be protected. The coop is secured, and we have never had problems until the one night we were away. I understand other animals need to eat, but this does not look like killing for food - none were eaten whatsoever! What the heck did this to our birds??? :'(
