I think everyone has good suggestions here...they look a little like golden comets to me.

Well you're right!  They do look like the Golden Comet chicks!

 

but then again - The Golden comet is just another shade of the Red Star/Black Star/Sex Link Chicken right?

yes they are all the same thing except for black star. just differnt names from different hatcherys

Yes, the golden comet is a sex link hybrid breed.  They supposedly are early layers and are good producers.  I think you might be pleased.  I wanted to start with the RIR and at the last minute decided to go with a cross section of birds, one of which is the golden comet.  I would see if you can find a breeder in your area, they are generally a lot more knowledgeable than TSC. It is difficult to tell some chicks apart from other breeds I think.  Breeders have more experience and are also willing to share with you what they know.
