My girls are all mixes ... or mutts, BUT beautiful!

JMO, but I think every coop needs a Sweetie and a Henrietta. LOL and possible a Speckles!

1 - Rhode Island Red - we named Dum Dum (because she sleeps on the bottom roost - and comes out of the hen house each morning covered with poop

We haven't named the other 4 BA and 4 RIR, but come up with a nickname whenever we catch them doing something funny

I got my first chicks last week and just decided on names last night:

GiGi (golden laced wynadotte)

Simone (dominique)

Lola (austrolorp)

FiFi (bantam frizzle cochin)


FiFi is actually named after the neighbor's 3-y.o., Fiona. She is a tiny little girl with curly, curly hair. Her nickname is FiFi, so the other faux-French names just seemed like a nice fit!

I have only named one of mine. I call it "jack-a$$" for the obvious reasons. lol I am starting to wonder whether this one is actually a cockerel, even though all of them are supposed to be pullets. It definitely has the personality, but I am too inexperienced to tell the difference at this point. This one is my favorite. This morning, he/she was standing on the waterer; and it must have been my imagination, but I thought I heard something that sounded similar to a crow. I was somewhat shocked and excited (all at the same time) because I love the sound of a rooster crowing.

All of them were named by my 3 great kids:

5. Neuro - was BR, lost to my own ignorance, brought home from feed store and forgot to offer water before I switched her out for a rotten egg under Goldie, lived for 8 days after her heat stroke from being tucked up under the feathers

2. Ra - BBR OEGB - Luna was going to be his mate: Ra sun, Luna moon
3. Foo Foo - white laced red cornish bantam - he is the one that I found on top of Luna that night, and one we named Panda a few weeks earlier- not sure what it was as it was as they were still young and downy when Panda was squished, so he was named after little bunny foo foo
4. Buddy - not sure what his breed was, looked like a larger version of Ra, he was extremely aggressive, killed Red, so he lost his life.
