I got 3 free chicks April 14 at the feed store. I've asked before here about breed and the concensus has been California Whites. These girls are now about 8 weeks old. Look at their feathering and their dark blue legs. Pictures I've seen of California whites, they all have yellow legs. I'm thinking perhaps these are easter eggers, but their heads don't look like my other Easter Eggers - those are broader birds and have tufts on their cheeks. It doesn't matter of course - inquiring minds want to know, though.

Definitely not leghorns. Leghorns have yellow legs and solid white feathers. They could be part white leghorn due to the possible white dominant genetics. I'm not certain CA whites are white dominant or not. I know if one of our brown leghorns mate with one of the white ones, the birds look a bit like yours except have yellow legs.

They're kinda like silver spangled Hamburgs, I'm not too familiar with those to know if they start off white and get darker? Wouldn't think so, maybe they're a mix? They're kinda pretty.
