I purchased two chickens as Easter Eggers, this photo is Daisy, her sister Lily looks exactly them same. They lay almost blue eggs with a slight green tint and they have a tuft on their heads. The problem is that I read that EE are supposed to have small or pea combs. My two have large ones that will lean to the side they are so large. Their legs are also very yellow, not a green or slate color that I read they are supposed to have. They actually look more like the Cream Legbars than photos of EE that I have seen. I emailed the hatchery to ask what they breed their EE from and was told that was privately held information.

Are my chickens Easter Eggers?

It doesn't matter, I love the eggs and the chickens, they are great. I am just curious.

Thanks!

They’re Easter Eggers! An EE isn’t truly a breed, it’s just a chicken who lays colored eggs. Many mixes of breeds can be used to create them. Your girl looks like she’s part Legbar, not full, as she’s not barred.

Basically what the above people just said 😅
