I am setting 36 eggs of all kinds, whatever my hens had laid in the last 4 days, I will be getting my incubator tomorrow, it is a Hova Bator Genesis 1588, this will be my first hatch ever, hopefully everything will go according to the incubator instructions...

I just put 7 d'Uccle eggs in an incubator yesterday---my first try at incubating eggs.

i'm on the July 6th thread but I'll be adding eggs this week, so I will be here with you as well, the rest of the eggs should get here by Thursday. This is a busted hatch, mad hatcher's batch.  Mostly refrigerated, old 2-6 weeks, over heated or just plain odd eggs.  It's what I do when bad luck, like those storms, busts a regular hatch. I keep those rolling out of hope and add a BUNCH of odd or other hopeless eggs and then laugh at the end, when some of them hatch any way.  It's an official Do it all wrong hatch.  And I happen to love them.  You stop worrying about omg I have to have a perfect hatch and just go with it, do your best and take what comes.  This one is to prove to my skeptical and know it all daughter that they do indeed hatch.  It's fun to do and salvages eggs most people say to never even try to incubate.  I may be fifty but I never did like rules for the sake of rules.  Sure if I want a perfect or near perfect hatch, I do my best to do "all the right things."  But even those hatches can be busted by fate in one form or another, cats, kids, dogs, power outages, weird and unexplained events, failed fans or broken thermostats.  Im going to make her clean the brooders for a week after my impossibles hatch. lau.gif

It's German Shepherd Dog, they HERD, they don't Ard, don't Pard and don't Erd.

I'd love to join =) I'll be setting eggs today. Then setting more in a second incubator later this week.

I have : 11 Olive Eggers, 11 Speckled Sussex, 3 Silke/Sizzle

The second incubator will be 36 BLRW eggs from two different sources. These belong to my guy.

I'm not expecting much from the SS, one was broken when they arrived. They were not wrapped like the other eggs I have purchased. Each egg was wrapped in one paper towel and then placed in an egg carton. There were crumpled newspapers in the bottom of the box and the egg carton sat on top...no packing above the egg cartons. Disappointing, but we will see what happens with the remaining eggs. I got the 3 Sizzle eggs as sort of a fun surprise..they are Silkie eggs, but could be Sizzle.

I am using a Hova Bator Genesis 1588. This is my second hatch.

My guy got a Hova Bator still air...I think he is nervous about trying to hatch this way. He ordered too many eggs! Got carried away..then had to get a second incubator fast. He did get an egg turner for it, but the fan kits seemed huge..and it didn't seem like there was a place to put it.

I think I might be turning into a Hatchaholic =)

I am setting 65 today too.  24 are from my RI roo with hens of SLW, BR, and Buff.   The other eggs are from a friend who had SLW, RI sex linked, Buff O's and I think his roo and a couple hens were blue O's (I think).   They were huge birds, very pretty and blue/gray color.     It will be interesting to see what comes out.   I was thinking of ordering a few Golden Lace W's from a hatchery, but chicken math has taken over my farm.   It is now taking more chicken feed than horse........

It's a good thing we got a second incubator....the mail just came, and the 12+ BLRW we were expecting from one seller turned into 30! She sent 30!!!

We are still expecting a 10+ shipment. Only one egg of the 30 was cracked, we put some wax on it and will try it anyway.

I was going to put my eggs in today, they have been settling. Would it be okay to start them today and add some of those 30 tomorrow? They will only be going into lock down one day early. We don't want to put all the BLRW in the still air incubator since we have never used a still air. We thought we would split them. Advice?
