Big Red. He lives up to the name. He is a Red Broiler and weighs upwards of 12 lbs, at least.

Hi, Malia... i would love some of your D'uccles.

Awesome! They should be hatching in about 10 days!

I have heard that ducks are more difficult to hatch than chickens, have you found this to be true? I have recently gotten some duckies and am curious.

I haven't found them MORE difficult... Just more fussy about the humidity. I had 12 out of 20 shipped eggs hatch. I think 17 went into lockdown?? I can't remember now. But 1 duckling didn't make it shortly after hatch. So I have 11 ducklings and 5 geese. They spent most of today outside in their hoop coop while I cleaned the brooder

Can't wait for the nights to be warm enough to stick them outside 24/7!

So, can you tell me what you are asking ($$) for them? and can you sex them? I would like both sex, if you can tell.
thanks

this was my 1st time incubating duck eggs. i had duck and chicken eggs together in bator, also a 1st for having 2 different breeds in bator at same time. the duck eggs were doing very good, and i was doing a dry hatch, but then towards the last week or so, i was candling and finding DIS eggs... boo hoo. I had one hatch early and he was malpositioned and passed shortly after i assisted him hatch. then this cutie hatched (1st pic, duckling) and he is doing well. i still have 3 more duck eggs to go to lockdown.
so to answer your Q, Yes, for me, they have been more difficult, only b/c it is my 1st time.
I am finding that there are so many different ways to incubate, e.g. humidity, temps at lockdown, egg turner vs none. It is called practice and what bothers me is i am practicing on innocent creatures and there is always going to be losses... which is sad to me. But when they do hatch and love you, it is a gift from above... there are always pros and cons. And knowing your bators and how they operate is a plus also.

I haven't any idea what to charge, and you can start telling the boys in about a week by their comb... I'd say (if it is a good hatch) a trio for $12.
