Growing fodder for chickens

I just got into this from seeing a video on Internet. My question, is non gmo barley sprouting seed ok for my babies? I just read it must be feed seed. I have just ordered 25 pounds from Handy
Pantry on line. Also can you feed wheatgrass?

Thanks in advance for the info

My guess is feed seed sellers said that, or their voice was unquestioningly echoed. Growing ur own is the way to go, as you'll know what you're really getting. Good Luck to us all

seed for sprouting for humans is fine, just more expencive than feed seed. The reason they say feed seed only is because the seed intended to plant a field with are often coated in things that will hurt an animal that eats the seed

Ok so would you be able to find organic feed seed? I really don't want to use gmo nasty critter if you ask me. I am trying to go organic with it. Go figure my diet is off the wall but my babies get the best. I have a feed store that sells very cheap but she doesn't know if it has gmo. And I found some stackable bins for storage that I think will work perfect has 5 drawers and is clear so you can see found at Walmart 25.00. So excited about this since summer is hot dry and everything is brown. I think this green will be perfect. Thanks again

Whoa, this thread is awesome. I was just trying to think of a way to grow my own food for my chickens and basically make my own feed.

Can anyone give me a step by step instructions on how to do this?

There are a lot of different methods. Start at the beginning of the thread and keep reading until you find one that fits your liking/situation! :D
