Having lived in central & southern Florida from 1980-1996; 2003-2005.... I beg to differ.
I just checked averages for kicks..

Uh no thanks... Average of 27 in June?!! IE: (ie: 80f)

:th

Our averages never hit 20 in any month. Of course we get days that are 30+(86) - but those days are pure torture.

I do chores in tank tops in the 50's. My favourite temperature is 65-68 if not lower when working around.

uumm we have weeks of low to mid 90's ( f )during the summers. Our property is full of huge old oak trees, the house is southern farm house with full first floor wrap around porch making the house very shaded and cool. Its all about what you are use to and or can handle. I dont like cold, 60's is chilly 50's has me wanting a fire in the fire place. I hate snow lol

Among the many places I lived in Florida, most of my time was on the coast, including an island for a while. It's not the temperature, it is the outrageous 100+ heat index, and no amount of breeze will change that. But hey.... my entire family will agree with you that they will gladly take the heat, tropical storms, and insane amount of biting insects over winters where I live.

They averaged it out between the lows and the highs. Making a mean of 80 in June. :/

It's usually 50 every night even in July here. I love the cool nights. I can't sleep in heat. It's weird how our bodies are so accustomed to certain things.. When do your birds start to suffer from the heat? Even my chicks pant at 90 degrees. My adults pant in the 70's and seek shelter. Thank goodness for all the trees!

You girls make me feel better about where I live. Temps vary 130 degrees winter to summer, but we only have fleas, mosquitos (like everyone) and ticks. No other insects to bug me, and its usually too breezy for the vampires to get me (mosquitos), and not so many trees that I get a tick more than once every 5 years. A little defend for the dogs, and I guess we're good. Ya'll can keep your heat, I have my own. LOL

we run misters in the shade of the trees and have barn fans that run in the buildings. The brooder house has a/c in it to keep the youngsters cool. They dont move around as much July/August, but with the sprinklers and misters and pools dumped twice a day they seem to be ok. If we have to we will hang the supershade shade cloth again to create additional shady areas during the hottest months.

Summers arent bad, we do things early, avoid 12-3 and do again in the evenings. With daylight till 9 and beyond there is plenty of time.
I avoid 10 - 3 becasue I have skin pigment issues, so I'm like a vampire, I only come out at night (unless I'm in my car or a building). Besides, July and August its like 110 outside. January and February, I'm likely to see anywhere from -15 up to a balmy 60, but usually its just 20s. Its those -15 w/40 mph winds that make it impossible to do anything but sit in front of the fireplace.
