Minnesota!

Thanks Holm!

I have found that I really like the size of Bourbon reds but I also like the 'natural' ness of the brown turkeys I have. I have no idea what kind they are but they fend for themselves very well. I like that. I cannot believe how much the turkeys cost at hatcheries (like Mcmurray) I am too leary of getting ANY bird off of craigslist for fear of illnesses. I think next spring I will attempt to get turkey poults/eggs and or guinea keets/eggs. DH really wants guineas. I like the idea of letting the mama hens do the incubating and raising. Keep me in mind @duluthralphie next spring. I might take you up on some of your babies!

We r looking for any color. We just want our tom to have a girl friend for next breeding season.

Holm I have a couple I will be selling. I have no idea who is whom yet. I am not in love with any of them so much I can't sell a couple.

I have way more turkeys than any one person should have. If you think you can tell bios from girls you can get them now before I put money into them and need to charge more. I have them 0-7 weeks old right now.

I have blues, self blues, red or rust, and whatever JJ and Ethel are. The only one not for sale is Penguin. I would be in Deep Do-do if I sold him/her. I think I have more hens than toms because I have only seen a couple do the puff up and show off thing.

I just looked at my eggs I have some turkey eggs hatching this week and then I am done, not counting Ethel and the girls that are either setting or hiding eggs now.

Which brings up a question to those of you that incubate, how do you get the intestinal fortitude to throw eggs? I just candled (as I said) I have Cochin eggs my wife put in the incubator while I was gone. I can see through the eggs, they are suppose to hatch tomorrow, There is no way I should be able to see through them. I cannot bring myself to throw them. Just in case I am wrong.

The funny thing is I am never wrong about anything, just ask my DW, she wil tell you that. She tells me that all the time 'Oh Sure, You're never wrong are you?" is what she tells me....

So my turkey hen never did show up. I was so excited to see her come home with babies too. It really stinks. I didn't realize how much I cared for that stupid turkey until the reality sunk in that she was gone. I still look for her out the window ever so hopeful that I am wrong.

Sorry your turkey hasn't shown up yet. Hopefully she is just busy and will show up soon.

Thanks everyone! Hard truth about free ranging birds is loosing some. The hen should have been home 3 weeks ago. I have not seen her since May 9th or 10th. I am most certain she is gone but I hold on to a shred of hope she comes home.

Ralphie- You sound just like my DH. He is Never wrong. Just ask him. Your DW and I are so lucky to have men in our lives that posses the skill of knowing everything. I am sure you could tell her that when she thinks your wrong.
