Emu Hatch-a-long 2012

All these baby pictures make me so hopeful and excited!
We have one more week and the weights have finally evened out after the increased humidity.
I am a bit concerned that we haven't seen any wobbling yet though. Is that a bad sign?
Egg #2 Is very "floppy" and prefers to rest where it wants.
Both eggs slant heavily to one side.
When we took them out to see if they would wiggle or wobble the air cell side felt cooler than the other, will that happen if it has quit also?
What day are you on?

Friday is Day 49 for me, real close there Yoda. This egg is absolutely berserk too, took it out yesterday to whistle at it and it was rocking back and forth, spinning around and it just wouldn't quit, if it wasn't grounded on a solid surface you'd think it was on a wobbly table or something with as much movement as it has going on. Gonna give Gerry a real run for his money when it hatches.

All - I asked this question on another thread, but I think it is worth asking here as well. Can you describe your brooding setups - I have chick and duck brooders, but the head room will not suit an Emu, I want ensure that I have planned everything out well in advance. also how far apart in ages do you keep chicks together - all hatched within one week - two weeks etc....

I use plastic totes (the BIG ones) for the first few days.. then move them into a tote I make from attaching three of the big ones together (lots of cutting plastic and affixing it together). They stay in that for a couple days with lots or trips out to a chain link run lined with poultry netting (chicken wire) for the first week depending on the weather. Then about week two they move outside into a big hoop coop. Most of my timeline is weather dependent. I won't throw them outside is cold rainy weather when they are young and not acclimated to it.
water and food dishes are dog food bowls until they graduate to livestock pans or shallow plastic totes. . eventually having large kiddie pools for bathing when they are big enough

Thank you for posting! My friends W&N have emus but no eggs now for 2 years.Could someone please post places where I might order eggs? I live in the midwest if it matters for successful shipping/hatching? I want 1 or 2 for pets so bad!

Emu chick #4 hatched a little wile ago.. still in the incubator drying out.. so that's 100% hatch rate on that set of eggs.. next 2 aren't due to hatch for a few days.. then should be only one more after that
Once he's fluffed and dry I'll post pics of all 4 together.

I think both of the pale eggs are duds.. no movement.. so time will tell
