Not sure what euthanasia in Belgium has to do with chickens. . . I've often thought about how we Americans are allowed to offer more compassion to our our loved animals by having them put to sleep instead of suffering while our loved ones who have terminal illnesses (like my deceased sister-in-law) are forced to suffer to the end. That's just my personal thought. It's difficult to judge the decisions of others when we don't live their lives, and know so little about their situations.
They are not just going blind. They are already deaf. They have lived there lives without one of our most important senses. They know better than most what they can live without. They made a choice that touch an taste is not enough to make life worth living or even liveable, an I cant second guess that choice. But I do have a problem with someone that's going to go blind having themselves killed. Was it that they felt they would become a burden to their family ?
I didn't read the last line, but i can tell you this. I don't think that is a bad thing. If I was suffering from dementia, I would hope someone would put me out of my misery if I couldn't do it myself. I've seen the effects of dementia. Not a good way to go. As for children, have you ever dealt with children that almost drowned but were revived? Not the ones that you read about that came out OK, but the ones that didn't. The ones that are in a vegetative state will never have any sort of a life at all. Keeping these children alive, hooked up to machines, is not doing them any favors.Did you read the last line ?
"lawmakers are considering a law that would extend euthanasia to dementia patients and children, whose families and doctors consented."
