Creek on Property...Would they Swim Away?

I have a stream next to my garden with wild ducks on it. My 5 ducks use the river but always come back to my garden - after all they have a cosy house and good food here.
I have a stream next to my garden with wild ducks on it. My 5 ducks use the river but always come back to my garden - after all they have a cosy house and good food here.
The only problem I would see is if it's fast flowing then they may get carried away to far down stream to find their way back home.
We have a creek that my ducks use. It is not very wide, maybe 4-5' through most of it. I have fencing that goes from their run to just over the creek. The fence doesn't prevent them from going further but I figure it is more of visual deterant.

I've seen it done before so you'll have to check it out and maybe you can on yours.
before we adopted the Muscovy's that had been dumped on the river below our home they would travel the river down pretty far and fly back down below us, but most ducks can't fly , this river runs pretty fast so it was a big effort for them to paddle back up. it's a mt. river thats not as wide as most rivers. Thats why I'm thinking if it is running pretty hard they might not make the effort unless starving. Fencing would probably be a good idea. Hope you can figure something out,.

So you want to keep them out of the creek completely? what breed of duck are you looking at, most domestics other than Scovie and Mallards and Calls can't fly very high if at all so probably a 4' fence would be high enough.Thanks, I really want to make this work but I also want to cover all my bases first. How high would the fence need to be to keep them out?

No I would like to give them access to a little elbow/pool, so the fence would have to go along the creek and then have a section in it. Here's what our property looks like. There's a stream that meets up with the creek.
And here are some pics of the creek and the elbow area I'm talking about. I have no idea how I could fence it successfully without it looking hideous, haha. The ground is VERY muddy during this time of year as well. It'll suck your boots off if you step wrong.

I can see what your talking about but your wanting to bring the fence up on both sides right to keep them from having access to the creek other than the part you have fenced ? I've seen it done and I would imagine someone has done it on here, and will hopefully see your post and weigh in. In other words fence in your property and bring the fence down into the creek and back up the other side. By the way your creek looks like our mt. river.
