Longtails! PURE AND MIXED!!!

My trio of RS Yokohamas!
the hens are of the '02 German import!
all offspring will have the correct walnut comb!
so far incubating is futile! a broody is the way to go for this breed!
im thinking I will find a way to breed for this trait! may take a while!

lets see how they all turn out! it will be a while before you would want to breed... I have learned that longtails (or at least the yokies) should not be bred until they have reached at least 2 years... that way the cocks have a full tail. if bred before 2yrs they will have a stunted tail growth.
see what potential each cockrel has and match him to a hen that has the traits he lacks. also choose hens with the best set tails! she carries the longtail gene!
im still learning as I go! im no expert in any way! though by the time I have 30-40 longtails I hope I will be close!

See, that's what I heard too! Does that mean I keep them away from the girls until then then?

that's what I am going to do with mine once they are stable! their hatch/survivability is a rollercoaster! at least for me... eggs wont hatch unless its under a broody, then I gotta take em away and brood them myself to keep them all accounted for and protected from all dangers...out of all my hatches im left with 2 survivors! the last 2 chicks... I think a game hen killed off all the other hens chicks... cuz none of the other chicks from any of my other broodys have survived since her chicks hatched....

This is my first pair of LTs (I take that back I have sumatras too, but they aren't that long.. maybe I shouldn't allow my Sum roo breed either?)

I have no idea what to really do with them..... but I think if I kept these two separated they would be heartbroken.. they never leave each others side.

CS, you asked in the Yokohama thread if they were pure RSY.. I would have to ask Nova or Decoyman to answer that for me. ?!

Aren't those blue and red feathers beautiful!
