Hello,
I have 3 week old d'uccle and i just noticed its beak is not straight. I want to fix it. I love him, He is very sweet and YES I know he is a rooster. His name is pumpkin.
Here is a pic

The beak is going to the right, and its just the bottom.
SHOULD I TRY RUBBER BANDING AT NIGHT?
I'm scared and I love him. He is very sweet and I will take the time to help him, Im 17 and homeschooled so yes I HAVE TIME...

I was going to make a small part for him like a brace or a mold. I know allot of people who can and will make this stuff.
Please help and advice would be nice, Except Culling... I have a heart... I've saved lots of different animals and this is my new hope.

Do not band his beak, chickens with scissor/cross beak adapt to this condition just fine. You will need to modify his feed/water bowls to accommodate him.
Here is a link with information explaining scissor beak.

Yes, But if I let him go, he will end up dying when he is older... like 4 months older... I wont just let him go, he is starting way to young... from what I've read....
Any other Ideas?

Not sure what you mean?? Let him go? Did you read the links we have given you? Scissor beak chickens live healthy lives.

I believe that a crossbeak is a skull deformity, meaning that binding his beak will not help. As long as you make the necessary adjustments to make sure he can eat and drink, he should adapt. I would check out the thread I posted earlier, there are quite a few people who have chickens happily living as crossbeaks. Right on the first post there is a chicken who had a very severe crossbeak as a chick.

My friend had a lovely cross beak chicken. She was beautiful, I believe she was an Ancona? She loved to eat anything (even small mice)
7 months old she starved to death... the beak wasn't letting her pick up food even with the deep dish and deep water bowl...
That's why I'm so nervous about letting him go. Just the fast that it started 2 weeks ago makes me nervous. :( he is still eating chick feed right now because that's all he can eat.
All the articles that I've read so far on backyardchickens has been, well pretty sad... yes, some chickens can adapt. But he is a small chicken, what if he wont adapt and turn out to be like my 4H friends Hen?
I have yet to lose a chicken in my flock.
