So I am on second day of lockdown, went to rewet my sponge and there is a not so wholesome smell:(. I don't know which egg has gone bad....:(. Am I going to ruin the viable chicks by inspecting eggs at this point? I know that they move into hatch position during the last three days.

In an ideal situation you don’t open the incubator during lockdown because it is possible, not absolutely sure and in many cases not that likely, but possible you might shrink wrap a pipped egg. However, I don’t always live in an “ideal” world. I live in the world “I deal” with. So do you.

Get that bad egg out of there. A sniff test should tell you which one it is. The risk of shrink wrapping a pipped egg is much less than the danger of that egg exploding or just stinking up everything.

I found it. Hopefully I haven't shrink wrapped anybody
