Oprington pullet with irritated eye

Hello! I just noticed today that one my chickens eyes is red and irritated. I did not see any pus. I also noticed dried blood from the bottom of her neck feathers. I’m not sure if she was pecked by another chicken in the eye. What can I do to help her heal? Thank you.

Hi!

The dried blood on her neck feathers must be something else as that looks like possible eye infection or worse, but that wouldn't cause bleeding necessarily.

I would keep her quarantined from the other chickens until you know what she has.

You could rinse the eye out with a saline solution, then put some Terramycin in her eye. That's a broad spectrum antibiotic intended for eyes.

If it persists, or she gets it in the other eye, it could be something else, but I'd start there and see how she does.

I hope it's just a minor thing and she heals up from it!
