Growth in chicken's mouth

Oh I think I screwed this reply up... still a newbie at this...anyway...
Thanks, Dawg for the info. Our conditions are pretty good, but we are thinking of switching to a bubbling waterer when not treating with the ACS. I am wondering something...last week we have the girls a pumpkin and I notice the seeds were kind of gigantic. I wonder if Goldie got one of those caddy workers in her throat, causing a cut, which then in turn allowed the canker a breeding ground?

Thanks for the update. As for pumpkins, I bought several big ones from Southern States to sit out in the yard for my girls, and the fist had black mold inside after they pecked through it. It kind of scared me because of the risk of aspergillosis and other things, and I threw it out. I think pumpkin seeds are pretty soft when they are in the pumpkin. Mine won't touch dried pumpkin seeds, but they love the fresh ones.

Yes! That is what happened to ours just a few days after we carved it! We carved it on Sunday...went to set candy out the candy and it was just black and oozing! We got a "not perfect" pumpkin on the same day, from the same patch...one that the patch wanted to get rid of...and busted it up for the hens. Hmmm...the vet said she thought it would be strange for a healthy hen to get canker as bad as Goldie had it. Maybe it could have been bad pumpkin that had her system weakened? Interesting...
