Hi all,
I have a chicken over three years of age and is dropping eggs that are paperthin and break when she lays them on the floor of
my coop. The rest are having very hard eggs. I have even dropped one on the floor and it doesn't break. Since the rest of their
eggs are very hard what's happening with her?

She is probably lacking calcium. What sources of calcium do you give your flock?

Also, what breed is your hen?

I have gold Cochin Bantam- they are free range and I give them oyster shells occasionally but they all seem fine except her.
They all eat the same food.

Hmm. They aren't known to be huge producers, so that wouldn't really be the problem. Sometimes with heavy producers, their reproductive systems "short out" after pumping out eggs for 1-2 years.

I would suggest mixing oyster shells into their feed so that they have a constant supply. Also, clean their eggshells, peel out the membranes, and feed them back to them in their feed too. It sounds like she needs more calcium in her diet.
