Golden Pheasant Noise Video Please?

I have been looking everywhere for a video that shows the apparent "loud screech" noise the golden male makes in the breeding season. I heard a different bird noise (I haven't had my goldens for long) in my backyard, which was actually quite nice and I don't quite know if it was their call; it was a foreign noise to normal though. They just make quiet little "took took" noises which is quite pleasant. All videos I find are just them doing to courtship but no noise other than the hiss.

Apart from that, would their breeding season be different depending on the climate I am in? I live in the tropics so there is no real change in weather such as summer and winter. We only get a wet season and dry. They have just come out of the breeding season for the rest of Australia (which has a far different climate to the far north of Australia) so I wonder if they will start again in October-November this year as to down south or start again in our cooler (lowest being 14 degrees in the morning, 28 max in the day) months in May-August. Any ideas?

I've never raised goldens before, but the "loud screech" might be an alarm call. Xeno Canto is my favorite site to go to for listening to bird sounds around the world. Type in the scientific name and listen to the "female alarm call with chicks" and see if it matches the sound you heard.

Its just a "Hey here I am" callout. Your birds will mainly go by daylight hours for when breeding comes into play. Sorry but, dont know where you could find the screech call at. Happens fast and very random as you probably already know.

I may have a recording of it, I'ld have to look. I think there are a few videos of it on YouTube.

Thanks Tony, that's the sound I heard, absolutely nothing like that on youtube but the hiss when they are flirting. Cheers mate.

that is a cool site and the goldens i have make that screeach also at night it makes your hair standup and very loud i played some of the sounds on that site on my computer where the goldens are at and they started making sounds i have never heard befor amazing

It's good to learn and know all the sounds your birds make and what those calls are used for. For me, familiarizing myself with the all the calls my birds make allows me to know what they are doing without me having to look at them if I'm busy outside. I've never kept goldens, but I'm gonna guess that if goldens are territorial, those new sounds you heard were probably their response to another golden where they are ready to defend their territory. Then again, it could just be a rally call for everyone to come together.

hello, I'd like to revive this thread, I live in the city limits w/ neighbors around and if someone could suggest if pheasants are ok to have, meaning not load (quiet) and that type?
