I'm waiting for my spotlight to charge and I'm gonna try candling through a box with it. I having no luck with the little flashlight I've always used, for some reason. I'm thinking chicken eggs must be a little harder to see into than ducks??

 I have BCM and CLB due to hatch this Friday and the following Friday, the PBR are due to hatch.  Waiting on the Crele Orpingtons to arrive. They should have been shipped out today. Just like everyone that is crazy enough to bid on eggs in this weather... I'm really nervous about that. 

Set 10 Sebastopol eggs yesterday. The air cells are really bad. Many are detached and some are saddle shaped. Only one was in tact and looked good. I'm just going to keep a positive attitude.

Soooo ready for spring.

Me too ! It 's been brutal here this winter. As for cold eggs i think you will be fine as long as they dont get left outside for sn extended period of time . I ve been incubating eggs that i collected at night after coming home after work on days it didnt get of the teens.... I marked them as cold and they have been developing just fine.

I didn't, johnderosa.. Just now got home from work and since it looks like my temp has been awesome today I'm not gonna disturb the eggs at all. I'm worried if I open it I'll end up fighting the temp for An hour afterward and then not sleep well for stressing over it.

Hubby did say the spotlight is charged now, though..

So, my incy has been out for 24 hrs, temp settled, humidity not sure my brinsea has no thingy to read that. It just has 2 wells. So filled 1 ? ( you can tell this is my 1st go ! )
My eggs have been resting for 23 hrs. Candled them all (12) bantam. 1 egg looked a bit iffy to me, so put that one to one side.

Now, I decided to not use my auto turner ....eek !! So I can do more eggs, with the hope I can at least get 1 fluffy frizzle banty

I've marked a O and X on both sides of the eggs. Set my phone to remind me to turn them 5 times a day. I trusty app I hope !

Do I wash my eggs ?
Turning, is it just turning them from O to X each time ?

My test eggs were completely filthy, so I washed and bleached (1 part bleach 10 parts warm water) them, I was stupid and forgot the rinse them after beaching, so I have a sick feeling I killed them all. I candle again on Friday, I'll let you know how it turns out.
