Second set of eggs is in lockdown! Two look suspicious, but I said that last time and they hatched, so...

I finally tossed the green egg! I never could see through it! I need to order a better light for my dark shelled eggs!
My final count: 16 of the 17 eggs that went into lock down hatched with no assistance! 3 of the 5 eggs that Alice was sitting on hatched with no assistance. The other 2 never did hatch, and I couldn't see why by candling them....and I'm not ready to do an eggtopsy!
We ended up with 19 chicks total. We've lost 2. One disappeared completely, and we found another (the little partridge bantam ) dead in then coop yesterday. It was eating and drinking and running around with the others the day before so I'm not sure what happened to it.

All in all I'm super happy with our first hatch!!!

My first time hatching turkeys!

You know about putting marbles in the drinking water? Besides keeping them from drowning the flashing of the light on the wet marbles encourages them to drink. Also helps getting them to eat too. They are motion rigged.

6/7 Isabel's in incubator B have hatched, today is hatch day, moved them to the brooder, candled the last egg and it is very active but no internal pip yet, left it in.

Here's the chickies in the temporary brooder (an old bird cage) they are in their big 3x4 foot homemade one now.

Second batch went into lockdown yesterday! We have a pip as of this morning, day 19. It’s the blue egg!

I most probably lost all of my second batch. Power went down on the second day of lockdown... I'll check the eggs tonight.

I have forgotten what temp chicks should be at. I have my brooder warming up ready to move them as soon as the temp gets to 80 F but I am not sure that is enough coming from 99 F.
