So happy for you! They will grow up to be sassy and beautiful!

I came home from work and had three fluffed out. I've got two Blue Laced Red and one Gold Laced and another Gold Laced hatching right now. I moved the three which were causing great wreckage from the bator to the brooder to let the one get out and fluffed. I spritzed with warm water and closed up to let the hatching continue.

Yeah how exciting, grats!!! Where did you get your Golden Laced Wyndotte?

Well we are into the extended hatch now. I have five in the brooder. It looks like two blue two gold and a silver, one columbian wyandotte rampaging around the now stinky and trashed incubator and now another is pipping. Two of the pips have had botched zips and the chicks were not able to make enough of an opening to get out and I very carefully enlarged enough to give them leverage and they were ably to get up and out and drag bits of shell around until it came off. I keep kicking the humidity up it has been in the 70s but when the eggs moisture runs out they are stuck and can't turn to do their zip out.

Sorry for not checking yesterday! Congrats on your successful hatch! Yay! Babies!

Lesson for both of us- no matter how irritating and inconsistent the incubator is, no matter how inconvenient the power-outages are, no matter how stressful the shipping can be.... these babies know what to do and how to do it!

The red disco lights are pretty weird looking

maybe if we don't loo it will go away...

Chick checking camera...

People that have perfect color balanced pics of their animals have way too much time on their hands...

I did the eggtopsy today since no more hatched and all but one were clear - yellow gummy yolks no sign of anything. One had developed up to about day 16 but had died at that point. The last one out is definitely smaller - it is funny how fast they grow the Sunday chick is the biggest then the next two then the next two then the one. I am still a bit concerned about the little Columbian - I will be happy to see it eating and growing. One has a poopy butt that I have been trying to keep cleaned off - they are on medicated feed so I hope that will help.

Soo beautiful! *High-five* Good Work! First chickens!
I've been handling them as much as possible- one has 'helped' me write my paper...
And the difference is really astonishing between the chicks- the chick that hatched on the 21st has full wings of feathers, while the one from the 23rd day is still catching up. All are eating and drinking and pooping as much as they can, so they will be healthy and happy after I've gone back to classes!
