Share Your Hatch-a-long

I did have to toss that 1 before lockdown. But the other 8 hatched. Super cute & off to their new home.

My broody's were supposed to hatch over the weekend. But my pen flooded. She left the next because it was under water. I stuck the eggs in the bator. 2 days later, 4 out of 5 had no movement. 1 was wiggling around. I'll keep him in for another day to see what happens.

I'm glad your first batch went well and Its a shame that it flooded. Crossing my fingers for your last egg!!

He still hadn't broken through. For some reason I decided to help. Even though I know better. I broke away a bit of the shell so he wouldn't suffocate before he broke through. I wrapped him in a damp paper towel, but now I'm worried I may have shrink wrapped him. Would I know it if I did?

I'm honestly not sure. Good luck and hope he's okay.

He did turn out to be ok. I waited an hour or so & he wasn't doing much on his own, but still chirping & moving around a bit. I popped him the rest of the way out. I really felt like he had been in there so long that he just didn't have the nutrients necessary for all that hard work.

I gave him water with vitamins & he's doing fine. I did go to the feed store & get 2 sexlinks to put in with him so he's not lonely. He's a cute little buggar. Came out of a bantam egg so his new sisters are quite a bit bigger than he is. But they get along ok.

I'm glad he made it! I'm sure he's happy as a clam boat with his new sisters :)
