They want to take my chickens!

It is a shame that you need a permit. You can exchange the word "permit" for "tax". Just a new revenue stream for our gov't. There is no additional cost to a municipality, because you own a few chickens.. Why do they need to charge you a permit fee?

As for the cost, maybe you can put up a flyer at our feed store looking for donations to change the rules, There must be others like you that want, or already have chickens and want to be in compliance.

I've thought about asking for donations to the cause, but I don't want to turn anyone off from the actual cause just because I'm asking for money. A few people have offered money to help, but I have a hard time taking it because I know that there is a chance that I won't be able to change the ordinance and I've accepted that I might just be wasting money, but its just my own money. I don't want to waste everyone elses money if I can't get them legalized.

My status conference couldn't have gone better. I have 6 months to a year before I even have to think about all of this. :D now I just wait for Edgewood to finish revising their ordinances and go from there.
