Surprise Az "Wichita Cabin"

I haven't posted any updates in a long time. It's been so hot here in Phoenix this summer I really couldn't get out to do too much.

Here is a picture of our first egg we got on August 31 from our Barred Rock Betty. You can't really tell from this picture but, she still hasn't found the nesting boxes yet. She lays almost everyday now. Other than a 4 day spell when she injured her leg. Thank goodness she's made a full recovery. We're still waiting on our Buff Wilma to lay her first egg. She's showing all the signs so it should be any day now.


Here is a picture of the girls and I hanging out. My wife and I have been so surprised at how much personality chickens have and just how good of pets they are.




As you can tell by the photo below we still haven't decided on a color yet. Any suggestions would be great!



This is the newest addition to the coop. I did have a roost that stretched the width of the coop but I didn't like the lay out. So, I added a "ladder" style roost for the girls. They really seem to enjoy it.
