So would you use an BYC Android App????????????

Seems that BYC doesn't think there are enough of us that would use an Android app, but in the 8 pages of this thread MANY have asked for one. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/832548/new-free-byc-iphone-ipad-app/70#post_12909641

Nifty-Chicken said "Also, an app for Android would be great if it would be in demand!"............ So let's show him that it WOULD be in demand!!! After all, there are MANY more Android phones out there than there are iPhones!!!!

They have a very good format for mobile web that works just as well for me. I don't get notifications when I get a PM or if someone replies in a thread I've subscribed to, but that's fine with me. So I could go either way. If there was one available, I'd probably download it.

Hey everyone, great discussion! We appreciate the feedback and definitely want to do what is best for the community!

When evaluating our big projects, honestly, it comes down to cost and time. We can see on the backend statistics of the site how many people are viewing BYC and how active they are using different platform (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Microsoft, etc.)

We review these stats, the quantity of visitors, how active they are in posting, etc. and then we review the cost and time associated with developing an app (not cheap or easy). In the case of an iPhone app, there was a LOT of activity to justify the allocation of resources to develop the app.

An android app isn't totally off the table, but based on our research it also isn't something that is yet a high priority.

One main question for those wanting an Android app: What is it that you think the Android app would do / have that the mobile version of the site does NOT have or do?
 
The app would allow mobile notifications and a more sure place to respond to the threads. I've lost the comment I was about to post a few times in my mobile browser, so I seldom post when I otherwise would.
 
I would like to get notifications, and make it easier to post pictures. When I want to post pics on the Mobil website it takes a while for it to load and sometimes it doesn't even put it in my post after five minutes of loading
 
most of the time apps are just a mobile device version of the webpage. I don't see how a specific app for android would improve things. if you want a notification for a forum response then just get an email response. half the **** apps do for you you can already do with a different interface or in settings of the thing you are interacting with.

now if you can get the mobile version to upload images then I would be happy. seriously tried three different posts and no uploading going on.
 
I wish they had an app for the android system.And that they ccould set it up to give us notifications on the threads we are following
 
As of right now I get email notice for every reply to every thread I have posted plus thread I have subscribed to. Then when I get an email I get a notification on my Android device. In particular Samsung s4.

Designing an app to send a notification for thread replies would be redundant and just fill up space and ram on the phone. Although I'm not in charge here if I were to make an app related to BYC I would make an encyclopedia of the breeds and have it searchable.
