Young still, but hoping for gender ID's!

I know it may be too early to tell, but I'm a new "mom", so i want to know everything about the little ones growing up in the brooder. They are all "supposed" to be pullets, but we know how that goes. :fl So, if anyone wants to take a shot at guessing gender, that would be a big help. The first 6 are just over 2 weeks old. The last 2 are just over a week-ish.

I, like so many others just starting a home flock, only want hens right now. However, in a few years, I would like to raise future generations of chickens.Just not right now. That being said, having a roo in this bunch will not automatically exclude him from my flock at this time. Some adjustments to my plans might need to be made and the sooner I know, the better!
Thanks for the input!!!

Also, I am taking pictures of each chick, every week so that future "new eggs" can compare their chicks to these and be able to have a better idea if they have hens or roos.

Would any other pictures help? Also, the Speckled Sussex and the Amber White are usually the first to check things out, but the darker BR is the one most likely to peck at any of the other older birds.

They're simply too young yet. Did you buy pullet chicks or straight run? I've only ever had one cockerel in a pullet order and considering that's one of 18, not bad. I know it can seem like it happens constantly because people don't come on to post "all of the pullet chicks I ordered are pullets!" :D

The only ones that can be somewhat reliably sexed by appearance at this age are the Barred Rocks. Signs of pullet: darker, dark wash down legs, dark beak, smaller head-spot at hatch.

I find with the mixed breed flock, going by size, leg thickness, boldness, etc., is tricky.

Both posts are good to know. Debid- I did get them all as pullets. I am probably the most perplexed by one of the BR. Large amounts of white on the head, but very even and not "messy". Also, much lighter barring started (compared to the other BR) but also has the dark wash on the legs and feet. My luck, I can't just have straight forward things! :D

Picture update.
So, another week has gone by and the chicks are growing like weeds! Hopefully I am a bit closer to being able to confirm genders. Here are the new pictures of the flock. Anyone have any insight to genders?

Thanks!

P.S. I did have another Barred Rock but she had a lower beak deformity (much too short) and on the advice of my vet, she had to be culled. It was difficult, but we thought it was for the best. She was begining to have trouble eating and drinking. That is why her picture was removed from the original post. :(

At 4 weeks, that is almost definitely a cockerel. Pullets won't usually have such a large, red comb or such thick legs at this age.

Barred Rock (4wks)
Not sure, but leaning towards cockerel.

Buff Orpington (4wks)
Pullet.

New Hampshire Red

Probably a pullet.
Amber White (4wks)

Not 100% sure, but it looks like a pullet to me.
Silver Laced Wyandotte-dark (3wks)

Wyandottes can be hard to sex accurately when they're young, but it looks like a pullet.
Silver Laced Wyandotte-light (3wks)

Kind of large comb for such a young bird, so I'm going to tentatively say cockerel.

Thanks!

I was thinking the same about the Sussex. With the Wyandotte's, I thought it was odd that they each seem to have different combs developing. I've read that it happens sometimes, but since I only have 2, what are the odds?
The Barred Rock is still a mystery to me. Dark wash on the legs but lots of white on the head...really curious about that one.
I will continue to take pictures each week, but if anyone else has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Well, another week, more pictures! Although they don't like to sit still and let me snap a picture as much anymore!
I decided to only update this post with the pictures of the chicks I am still wondering about. The birds not shown, I am feeling pretty confident that they are pullets. These...I still have my figures crossed but would love some guesses! :D

The Barred Rock and Sussex still look like cockerels. I'm not sure about the Wyandottes, but I'm still leaning towards one cockerel, one pullet.
