I wanted to share my latest hatch. I've been waiting for these eggs since last year and I'm more than a little excited so I had to share! It all started with me looking for a white egg layer to set off the color of my other eggs. I have every other color of egg so I thought the white would just make the other color pop out a bit more. To complicate my search more, I also want my flock to be varied in color and breed to be estheticly pleasing...yes, I realize I'm a bit obsessed and crazy. So basically I want every hen to be a different color or patern and for each of them to lay a different colored egg lol. This all led me to my problem...I didn't find many of the white egg layers very appealing. That's when I came across a forum on here about the Isabelle leghorns and I was hooked! White eggs, beautiful color and the cherry on top for me was that they were super rare and new. I mean, who doesn't wanna be the first kid on the block with the fancy new chicken?? ...I warned y'all, I'm obsessed. If I can't speak freely on here about it, then where can I?! I might need chicken addicts anonymous. Anyways, as it turned out, the breeder that was working on this breeding program was only an hour away from me!! Three weeks ago I was able to drive down to Backwoods Poultry Farm and pick up the eggs I've been emailing about since last year. It was better than Christmas for me. I was able to see his whole breeding program and talk about the genetics of it all. Jump forward three weeks and now I'm thrilled to say I had 100% hatch rate I'm sure due to me being able to avoid shipping and I wanted to share them with everybody. I hatched using a Brinsea mini advance. It only holds 7 eggs in its auto turner so I ended up with 6 Isabelle colored chicks and one brown split.

Very nice!!! Congrats. Yes, incubating anonymous -- I started with 1 Brinsea mini-advance 3 yrs ago--I know have 6. They are excellent. I had a Brinsea Octogan Advance EX but sold it because these minis outperform that model

I borrowed a friends octagon once (when I "accidentally" bought too many hatching eggs) I did side by side hatches in my mini and her octagon and I had a much better hatch out of my mini. I've been very pleased with it...and because it's small it keeps me from setting two dozen eggs at a time :D

Quote: Agreed--I thought the Octagon was for the birds (no pun intended!)--and it cost me nearly 600 dollars. But then again, 6 mini advances added up too, LOL. But like you, I just kept wanting to hatch, 9 hand turning or 7 turning didn't last long. You are funny--accidentally buying too many eggs. I actually have made scheduling errors with my 6 and had to delay shipments as I had nowhere to put them!

Here's my F6 Isabelle Cockerel - Hatched November 2013 :) I agree they are beautiful birds!
