Hello. Wilson chickens here. I started my little flock of chickens last spring when I purchased 6 golden comet pullets from Tractor Supply. Unfortunately during the first few months of having them I ended up losing 3 of them, two to my German Shepherd and one to an owl. The other three were wonderful but I had to give them to a neighbor due to becoming pregnant and having to focus on the new baby. Now I'm considering getting back into raising a small flock again for the eggs and I'm not sure if I want to get golden comets again or have a couple golden comets and a couple of another breed. What breeds would my fellow backyard chicken raisers suggest in getting for their egg production? I am located in Stamping Ground Kentucky so the weather is hot and humid during the summer and winters are fairly mild with maybe an ice storm every now and then lol so I'll need hardy breeds that can handle the heat and semi cold.
