Someone gave me this goose a couple of months ago. He turned out to be amazing, but passed away the other day. I really want another goose and would like it to be the same breed. Problem is, I don't know the exact breed he was. Hopefully someone can tell me from looking at his picture.

Maybe he was a mix of Embden and some other breed. He sure was gorgeous, so sorry for your loss, after i post this maybe someone else will see it and be able to give more ideas.

Sorry to hear about your bird. Are you sure it was a gander? If so, then most likely it´s a cross, as it has so little colour on it, but also it´s not a breed that has only white ganders, of course. I have a female that´s a cross, not dissimilar to yours. Here she is checking on her eggs. She´s also a lovely, calm goose.

was kind of thinking he may have been a mixed breed too. When I got him the guy told me it was a male and a Persian goose. I don't know too much about the different breeds of geese so I didn't question what he said. He really didn't honk much until he saw me. His eyes were also a really light blue if that makes any difference.
Your goose is really pretty livininbrazil.

My Embden gander has beautiful blue eyes.

Maybe looking here will help you decide which breed you'd like now https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/618185/raising-geese-101 have you checked with the guy you got him from to see if he has more.

Well, she´s prettier now! In that pic she was really shabby due to moult.
I´ve not heard of Persian goose, but doesn´t mean it doesn´t exist. I get a bit suspicious with people sometimes...they have cross-breeds, and sell them as rare breeds here. :(
Lots of breeds of geese have light blue eyes when they´re white, or have a lot of white on them. That one in the pic has blue eyes. Mixed-breeds can make nice pets too, but if you want something that´s calm, there are a few breeds you can go for. I have pilgrim-type geese, they´re very calm in nature, much more calm than my cross-bred geese, and those are easy enough!

Hey there your goose looks like a Embden crossed with a buff saddleback

(Due to its unique rosey coloured beak
What, mine? If you mean the one in the avatar, her dad is pilgrim, and her mom is a pied, but hidden spot, so she looks white....you know, one of my cross-breeds, the one that was a yellow gosling. Remember? If you mean the one in the barrel, then she´s the one with the cap in these pics. Their parents were just saddlebacks.
And don´t forget, poms and cottonpatches have rosey bills like the buffs. actually, hers isn´t that rosey...just looks it in the pic. ;)
