Hi,
The pictures are of my buff orpington. She's had one molt already but is now losing feathers just on her neck. There doesn't seem to be any feather picking going on with her two coop mates. I can't find any mites. Does this look like normal molt with pin feathers starting to come in?

Yes, I have a bird with the same patch of feathers missing. She's a Rhode Island Red. I just had mites infest my coop, you could POSSIBLY have those little parasites chewing your buff's neck feathers. It's most likely that you don't, though. If you want to treat for mites, I suppose you should use parasite spray. I'm sorry I can't help you any more. Hope your chicken gets better!
