My Geese are bullys!!

Just an update... Re-homed the three geese last night, they now have 2+ acres of pasture to roam and small pond and other geese to befriend... The gentleman that got them said he had never seen such people friendly geese, and when he brought out the carrier for them our biggest one (Rio) went strait into it, the other two went up to and only needed a slight nudge to go in...
I think they will be better served and have a lot more freedom than they did here. Sorry to see them go but also a bit relieved knowing they went to such a great home. It was a fun ride

Thanks you two, it was a bit bitter sweet going out to feed the flock and not getting my usual welcome.. But Its ok, I had a blast raising them, its so funny that when I was given those eggs it wasn't such a big deal, but once I saw them moving around in there and when they hatched the transformation that took place in my own thinking... Its probably a good thing we don't have more room as I would be raising a lot of those buggers...

It was a memorable experience, one I will not soon forget...

Oh, they´ll be disappointed...but just the first time, eh?
To me, goslings hatching are far more amazing than chicks, although I do think that all birds hatching are quite amazing that they grow in the egg like that so perfectly and have this little alarm clock inside them that tells them to start kicking, and then to wake up... impressive stuff. Glad you enjoyed it.
I don´t ever intend to be without geese, they´re my favourite bird here. Mine are just starting to nest now. I´m thinking about putting some eggs under a muscovy to hatch, then raise them myself, as it´s so rewarding. Thinking about it, as it´s also rather time-consuming, as you well know!

Enjoy your other birds.

I just found this thread and thoroughly enjoyed reading all of it! I raised a pair of Chinese geese with a half dozen chickens. They were 2 yrs old in May of this year. They are definitely at the top of the pecking order. I haven't had any chicks (lost my roo) to worry about and I'm not sure my gander knows quite what to do....so may not have goslings. These are my first geese and I enjoy them so much! (such antics!)..even though they aren't friendly to everyone (hubby is one). He often asks..."and why do we have geese?" If we ever have fertile eggs, sounds like we may need to separate them. Right now they share a pen which we lock up at night, have separate sleeping quarters and free range during the day. On the subject of the gander not knowing what to do. Should I start a new thread to ask opinions? I'm not sure how this works....
