I saw something cute at the market today. It's good that awareness is growing about the good in buying local and against unnecessary animal suffering, wherever the opportunities exist in the world.

Who could resist the adorable model chicken.

I was reading a book (maybe the Omnivore's Dilemma?) saying how in another country (Finland, maybe) the bar code would bring up a picture of the farm the animal was raised on, and information about the animal. It would sure be an eye opener if they ever did that here in the states, wouldn't it?

Interesting. It might definitely make a few people think twice about their choices. Here in Australia there's a TV ad campaign trying to encourage people to buy free range, and people seem to be caring more.
