Today my son came running into the house yelling "babies there's babies!!!!"
Our Dutch rabbit we thought was a buck is infact a doe and delivered four lil babies this afternoon! I immediately called our local rabbit expert and asked what we needed to do. We got them moved into a nesting box and all seems well so far. *crossing fingers
But what a surprise! My children are all excited!
Here are the wee ones:

you do kow how to tell if its a boy or girl right? If you lay the rabbit on its back and spread its hind legs his testies will be visible it is very surprising the first time lol, but very obvious.

I dont know how old the babies have to be to sex them

Yes I know thank you lol. This was my daughters rabbit and she was told it was male when we got it. She questioned the presence of a dulap and the lack of testes but she didn't think the person we got it from could be wrong. This was a happy surprise.
Day two the babies are still wiggly in the nest.

lol thats why i always sex everything myself. Nothing like a happy accident, congrats on your new wiggly babies. before you know it you will have a little herd of bunnies ;)

Sad to say we lost one of the babies during the night. I noticed yesterday it wasn't quite as active as the others but I hoped momma would nurse it and perk it up. But it was laying at the opposite end of the nest lifeless when we checked on them. The other three look plump and wiggly this morning. Keeping our fingers crossed!

Plump and wiggly is good!

Sorry to hear that you lost one. As with baby chicks, those that seem out of phase with their siblings often don't live very long.

The Dutch I had were all great mothers; hoping the rest of the litter do splendidly!

And then there were two...we lost another this afternoon. The two most active ones are nestled together in the nest. Praying they make it. My daughter is taking this hard! :(
