Sooo... i ended up with a cornish x chick from a slaughter house is there a way to keep this chick from getting uncomfortably big
IM NOT GOING TO EAT HER im going to keep her as a pet with my other chickens????

Limit her feed intake and allow her to free range. Monitor her weight so that she does not get overly heavy. Several have maintained them for a period of time, but understand that she will NOT have the lifespan of most birds.

I had one several years ago. Her name was Eggnus. When we purchased her she was suppose to be a white rock but the older she got the more my husband questioned her breed. He kept saying she looked like a meat chicken, the cornish x. She grew so fast and she loved to eat. I did not ration her food because I still thought she was a white rock chicken. She was one of the most special chickens I have ever had. She free ranged with the other chicks she was purchased with. At about five months of age her legs could not support her weight. I brought her in the house and improvised a sling for her. I tried to limit her food intake but I think it was already to late. The heat was so hard for her even with air conditioning I had to have a fan on her all the time. She lived to be about 8 months old. She never regained the ability to walk any distance. She never gave up she was truly a remarkable chicken. She lived to be about 8 months old. I loved her very much and still miss her.
