Hey all,I have 8 cornish cross meat chickens(had 10 a coon got 2) anyway they go to the fair in about 3 weeks and they will make weight but last year was m first year doing it and I was in the lightest weight class and this year I would like to be in a heavier class. I gave them some milk and I have been making them some mixtures of a bunch of sugar/milk/syrup/brown sugar/and other stuff with scraps and feeding it too them but they aren't growing a great speed and it happened last year. There in there chicken tractor(movable pen) and they get Dumor chick feed and sometime Dumor layer pellets plus there water. Last year at the fair there were humongous cornish crosses there and real wide and heavy. If any of you guys have any tips or advice I would really appreciate it...thanks!!

Than again they might need a good meat grower feed with the higher protein content, and if you have any high protein treats or food I could give them I would appreciate it

How old are they? My Cornish X usually grow slower to start, then really bulk up at 6-7 weeks. Doesn't seem to matter what I feed them, they seem to gain the same. However, in your case, I'd put them on the meat bird grower, and give them high protein treats, like cooked eggs, maybe a little yogurt. I'd stay away from sugar, and try to get more protein into them.

You might consider 24% or higher next year. I have always seen good growth even with Dumor. I have 5 that are 35 days old today. I would guess they are 5 to 6lbs each & hope to put another pound on them by next Monday (42 days old). I am using Dumor grower with this batch. It is 20% protein. Mine are free range but rarely venture away from the feeders. I feed sun up to sundown (14 hrs) no feed at night in their coop.

Hope that helps. Wish ya the best.
