thanks for your response..I think that the reason she lost her back feathers is because of the rooster. However, the thing that worries me is that the hens have been without a rooster since at least 1 August this year...and I still see no progress with new feathers. I also have never witnessed any of the other hens pecking at her, but then, I don't sit in my chicken cage all day long... This weekend I plan to pluck out the remains of the broken/missing feather shafts. I have isolated her and another hen in a separate cage, where they get less light. That's all I can gather there is to do from reading the other posts on this website...
