Chickens/Guineas I had to bribe them with meal worms for a picture the grass is so tall you can see them! Lol

None of them went more than 5 feet from the coop and only a few tried to coop up with the adults. I put them back in their coop. I was surprised that the guineas cooped up pretty easy! I have 3 tractor coops 1 for turkey's, 1 for babies and 1 for the layers and my roo.


We are still working on how to properly roost... I think sitting on another chicken on the roost is rude but maybe it's comfy?

There are only 2 that sit on the others it's kinda funny. :)
 
We have a French Maran. He is always sleeping on top of the others. I am very lucky that our chickens get to free range daily. When I get home from work, I let them all out. They get to free range 3 acres for about 6hrs. Although I have had a few pecked off here and there, (unfortunately that happens,) they all go back to the coop when it's feed time

In the last photo, they are roosting on a 2 x 4 narrow edge up. I think you may find they prefer to have the wide side to roost upon. Especially as they grow into adulthood. If this is in your young bird tractor, it may not matter. Nice looking bunch of birds, and love the sleeping on top of one another, that is way cute.

I let our egg layers out as soon as it's light, but keep them in their paddock area until we've had breakfast.

Brian then let's them out to free range all day, even if we're going out.

The white ones are obviously quite vulnerable to birds of prey because of their colour, but they tend to hang out with the sheep.

The geese also free range and give a good warning if they see anything threatening around. Even a car or tractor!

We shut all the birds in their respective paddock areas again at about 6 ish at the moment and then I go up at twilight to shut them all up. By this time they are all roosting.

The meat chickens have their own paddock area too but as we want them to get bigger we don't let them out. They too put themselves to bed.

Yeah this is just the "baby" pen. I had it turned but they were all trying to stand in the same spot lol now that it's turned they are roosting a bit better. :)
 
We have just put our babies up in to the fattening up pen for the first time.

They have their own coop and play pen! As they are still small I have draped green garden mesh over as much as possible to try and deter birds of prey.

They were so excited to be let out of the run area I had kept them in for a couple of days.

They even put themselves to bed already.
