My first shipped eggs! An incubation adventure

Alas, no Ameraucana roos on MPC this morning. I'll just have to wait. I have plans to save up my pennies and buy cream legbars when 2015 availability is announced. When I order them, I'll probably add BCM and Ameraucana roosters to the order.

At the moment, I need to thin down my flock. I have about 20 roosters I need to either process or rehome so that I can start housing part of my "keeper" flock in that coop.
Awww. that's too bad.

I have looked longingly at the cream legbars a bunch of times.

But they are pretty small bodied, and I'm trying to stick to just dual purpose birds, since I'm raising them for both eggs and meat. Le sigh.

The legbars are very small bodied. I have a hen that probably weighs 3 pounds and she is 2 years old. They lay nice eggs for their size, but probably aren't the best for butchering. If I ever hatch eggs from them I'll probably sell the adults and not breed them anymore.
