Chicken won’t get up. Help if you can.

Walter is doing much better. After thoughts of the possibility of him being broody I have been trying to make him get up and walk around. Over this weekend I needed to go out of town and the wife and daughter had all day softball tournament. So she just put Walter in the back yard not the run and put him in the coop at night. I got home just after dusk Sunday and found Walter perched on a shelf next to the coop. when I put him in there he jumped up on the lower perch in the coop and I think thats where he stayed the night. This morning as soon as the girls got up the fight was on. I put some food in the run the two others came out and Walter stayed in the coop. I just opened the coop and run into the back grassy yard. They haven’t been fighting with the room rome. Walter is dissed from the other two but at least no fighting so far. Walter will still most of the time but will get up and walk. He is eating much more. Just now found him in the coop nesting box sitting on a warm egg. ether he just laid it or jumped in there after one of the others laid one. They are so close in color not sure if it was his or not. When I took the egg away he jumped out of the nesting box and jumped in the yard and started looking for food.

So yea looks like things are looking up for Walter. Still not sure if he was sick or broody ether way he seems to be more like a normal chicken but not back to himself. One of the other eastereggers quit laying a few weeks ago and is molting so I hope to find another egg in there this afternoon. When all are laying we get tow light brown eggs and one green egg.

usually if the chicken is broody it will make a nest and it will be very warm under her. I have a black sex link and it was broody 3 times 14 then 3 then 9 chicks

So I go to check on him one more time before heading out to get some work done. he seems fine actually having with the other girls. on my way back into the house I see I think HAWK on the antenna. ita about the size of my eastereggers or bit smaller. Smaller than Walter for sure.. the Hawk has been there about ten minutes. I put the girls in the run. MAN>>>> I hope the girl don’t get to walter to bad today when at work. should that hawk concern me? bat phone photo but thats all I have.

We usually don't like crows but they sure come in handy when it comes to chasing unwanted predators away. If your chickens are out in the open, then I might be concerned about the hawk. It'll be checking out your chickens. We have a rooster and he really protects his girls. He will lead them to shelter or back into their run if a hawk, eagle, whatever flies by. Just make sure your chickens have somewhere to go hide under or in and they should be fine.

Welcome to BYC. Can you try starting your own thread here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/threads/add/forumId/10
It will help more people to see your thread and answer questions. On old threads like this one, many people ignore them to look at new ones. The more info you can provide, such as the age, where he came from, and all of his symptoms, if he is drinking or eating, can help. Be sure to start some SaveAChick or electrolytes in his water, and get him to drink with a dropper.
