Hello there
To the person who wanted to know how to make friends with her hen....WOW I can actually answer that one!

I got a bag of dried meal worms. They are irresistible to them. For a few days just rattle the bag and sprinkle a few on the ground. She will start to follow you and the bag. Then one day sit down on a bench or spot and sprinkle some next to you or on your lap. Slowly just start to pet her back - she may jump away, but it only will take a few days before she is sitting in your lap with her head in the bag while you pet away. This worked with my hen, "Cruella DeVille" and she will sit on anyone's lap if there is a bag of meal worms there!
Good luck. It is so much fun.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So glad you were able to tame up your bird! All it takes is time, spend quiet time with them, moving slowly around them and eventually they begin to trust you. Of course food is a huge motivator for bonding. LOL Through the stomach!!!

Thanks for sharing and definitely spread the word here around BYC!

We're glad to have you.

Yes, they sure do love mealworms! I've had good success myself with using mealworms to tame birds. Now, whenever they see the mealworm bag, they race up to me expecting a treat.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join us. That's some great advice you've given there. The way to a chicken's heart is definitely through its stomach. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. I love the name of your hen. Just out of curiosity, what kind of chicken is Cruella DeVille?

Glad you joined us. Bet she knew all along you love her, she just acted stand offish to get more treats. That's how the chickens train us.
