Does anyone know of a hatchery that would send around seven chicks during the winter? Could they put in some kind of heat pad or something? I have never had chicks shipped before and I know it isn't usual to have them shipped during the winter. Thank you for your help.
 
Even if you find one, there is considerable risk with shipping small quantities in cold temps. Have you tried to find a local breeder where you could pick up the chicks? You could look on Craigslist and join the state thread on this site (might want to join the MD thread as well as VA).

I'm a bit too far, but if someone local to me wanted chicks I would hatch some for them. Not a lot of people are looking now and that might work in your favor if you can find someone hatching this time of year.
