@LAChick and I are already making tentative plans to meet up. Who else is planning on going?

I might think about getting a couple of additions to my flock, if anyone has pullets (at least old enough to be fully feathered). If I have anyone go broody before then, I've already got plans to get eggs from someone for her, but I'd be sure to let folks know (and also if I can't talk my husband into a couple new birds at this time).
 
My daughter will be showing, and I hope to have a couple of other kids from my 4-H group along. We had a lot of fun last year and look forward to going again this year.

Perhaps the best part is that it's easy to detour slightly on the way home and drive through some of the Redwood State Parks. :) The Ferndale venue is lovely too, right on the Eel River delta.

We definitely want to bring home 2 fully-feathered girls. I know that last year, by the time I was able to get down there, all that was left in the sale area were pairs, trios, cockerels, and chicks. I can't have roosters, and I don't have anywhere to set up a brooder, so... If I can't arrange a pre-sale, when would be a good time to arrive at the show?

I know! I mean, I find it personally convenient to wash chickens in 77 F weather, but it is SO SO WRONG to have this on the north coast in February! Fortunately, the small reservoir that is the source for our irrigation water has filled.
 
Another great Humboldt show - it's not the biggest show ever, but there are very nice, high quality, birds shown and it's just a terrific and family friendly place to go. The atmosphere is low key in a way that makes it for me much easier to talk to people and learn.

The Lions' Club was selling yummy fresh Humboldt grass-fed beef hamburgers. There was a wild horse & burro adoption running on the grounds. The grounds are pleasant with grass and trees, and across the street there are sheep with cavorting lambs. You're a few blocks from downtown Ferndale with its restaurants and art and neat old Victorians. The Eel River delta is just a beautiful spot, near river and ocean and wetlands and of course Humboldt Bay and Eureka. After the show Saturday, my daughter and I went up to the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge ... just 15 minutes up the road. And then on the way back we wove our way down Avenue of the Giants.
