What did you build or make today?

We want to make separate pens inside the barn for our breeding stock would 4x8 pens with 4x20ish outside run be enough for a breeding bunch of standard size chickens? Maybe 1 roo with 4 to 6 hens

When i was searching for sizing info, i found a "rule of thumb" of 4 sq.ft. per bird in the coop and 10 square feet in the run, so 4x8 inside should be good for up to 8 chickens. make sure to have enough roost space for them all.

Loving seeing people who use their hands. Fantastic.

Got the truck back from paint and put the hydraulics on today.

Thank you for starting this wonderful thread!

I am afraid I don't have photographs, but today I will be working on debarking some more 7 foot pine logs by hand with a draw knife. These logs are going to be used in building our chicken pen!

built a hitch on our tractor at work to pull our 25th trailer.
Interesting! If you look on the radius of those 2 lashing rings, you may see a small VF logo. This is from the forge I've worked in for the last 23 year. If they are old enough, chances are I may have forged them, they primarily ran on my press line when I was on the floor. I actually had a hand in the design of the bending mechanism for this forging.

I made progress in reclaiming our storage space for chicken and garden equipment! Sounds oh-so exciting.....to reclaim 1/4 part of the barn.....but what joy it was to go in and get treats for the hens without having to climb over/step around/reach through plain 'ol "why do we still have this?!" crap in the barn. C'mon admit it....you've got those spaces too!

Recycled almost 95% of the stuff too! Donated 75% of "useful but not by us"; freecycled 15% of "big please take it!"; 5% was pure trash - such as this, I mean really, who would use a 3/4 used bag of 2004 cactus mix potting soil in Illinois?!

Feeling like I could tackle the workshop next! Oh, wait, I just opened the door there....and quickly closed it before those 'quick projects that never get done' sprung to life to come and grab me....! Maybe another day......

Yes they are stamped vf. I've built so many trucks and used exactly those. Pretty cool to know the person who made em. And I'm sure to see them in use.

I've been away for a bit, glad to see everyone is doing things. Honestly.

My most recent project didn't evolve building much, but , replaced the oil pump in a Perkins desiel on a wood chipper. Not a fun job
