Best way to introduce a new rooster to existing flock

I have the same thing im concerned about. I have 4 hens and an old rooster (really old) in one pen.... for the past 8 weeks in another pen right next to them I "thought" I had all hens but find out I have some Roos. These have been there with a fence Inbetween them they can see eachother (for past 8weeks) I would like to add a door between them so they can mix together the new ones are out growing their own pen and need more room. The pen with the older hens and rooster is huge plenty big for all of them. When's the best time to try this? Let them out before dusk all the same time and when they return its all one pen? Or middle of night open door and when they wake they are all together? Please help...

You don't mention how many young roos you have or breeds. Not all breeds or even bird in a breed are alike.

If you can let them out into the yard during an evening you can see how they get along. It's really a crap shoot.

Right now I've got an EE rooster who keeps going into a coop he's never been kept in. He's got four girls he's lived with all summer and they have their own coop but he keeps going into the C. rock coop that has three other roosters in it. I keep moving him back each night. He is a dominant rooster too.

So in your case I would wait til just before bed time and let them out into the yard. Then if that goes okay do it again a couple of times and the during the day. If they don't get into it, leave them to go into the coop of their choice.

Even hens can be picky choosing a particular rooster over another. She'll just hang with the rooster of her choice.
