First time day 14

Day 14 is an important turning point. At this point, much of the development of the chick is finished, the feathers, nails, and everything else are completed and growing. The chick is rapidly growing, the air cell should be at the proper development stage so that the correct amount of albumen is surrounding the chick, and that the air cell is on track to provide the necessary space and air for the chick in its final preparation for hatch in just a few days.

Now is a good time to candle and mark the air cells. By doing so, you will be able to see how they have grown and shifted by day 18 when you stop turning.

I like to do an extra step when using an egg turner, I rotate the eggs 90 degrees every few days so they don't just rock back and forth on the same axis. I can't prove it makes a difference, but it seems that I have fewer malpositions now. Even if you don't do it early in incubation, day 14 to 18 is when the chick aligns itself with the long axis of the egg, which is critical to hatch success.
