In the Brooder
We have (had) ten 8 week old chicks and all have been extremely healthy and happy. Yesterday I let them out to free-range like I do everyday. My son and I were outside with them the majority of the time, so was our big dog (he is very respectful with the chicks) and two baby goats. I went inside for a few minutes then came back out to round them up and put them away. One chick, our favorite, completely vanished! She was the only white chicken we had and none of her feathers were anywhere! There have been fox sightings in the area but I would think there would be feathers and my dog would have gone nuts.Could it have been a hawk? She was such a sweet and outgoing chick. My daughter can't stop crying because she was so attached to her. Looking into the coop is so sad now because our little white Delaware isn't there standing out anymore
